Our Municipal Economic Development Organization has a mandate to assist in building a prosperous, inclusive and resilient economy for our city, its businesses and its citizens. We work to strengthen our thriving economy by supporting local companies, attracting high-impact investment and promoting international trade. We work together with business, institutions of higher learning and government to make our city a global destination for innovative and sustainable business.

Your placement can be focused to meet your professional, academic and personal expectations; however, you will need to be adaptable as your tasks will vary. Many of your activities will be conducted independently so you must be able to work on your own and be self-directed.

Location: Vancouver Downtown, British Columbia, Canada

Preferred duration: 4+ weeks

Eligibility requirements: Previous work experience desired; research and report writing experience in an academic or professional environment is strongly preferred.

Tasks:

• Conducting research activities in the areas of local and global investment in order to assess barriers to entry and with the goal of facilitating easier investment.
• Conducting an in depth analysis of the types of organizations investing in the region and the areas of investment.
• Participating in research to develop strategies to meet the city’s future green city goals.
• Research on Quality of Life as well as analysing regional diversity as incentives to investment
• Assisting, though research the development of foreign investment information packages.
• Other related activities as they arise

Other key information:

• Part time or full-time position (29+ hours per week)
• Available between the hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm
• Must be flexible and able to work independently
• Must be organized and capable of analysing data
• High level of English; able to write comprehensive reports
