Homestay

Living with a host family is a great way to experience New Zealand culture. Please read and agree to the following:

Meals(Required)

Breakfast and dinner are included daily.
Lunch and snacks are not included.
Meals may vary depending on the household.
Dinner is typically eaten in the early evening.
If you are not home for dinner, you must inform your host family at least 6 hours in advance.
There are no refunds for missed meals.
You must not take additional food outside what is provided for meals.
You host may be out some nights, in which case food will be available for you to cook/reheat.

Household Living(Required)

You must keep your room clean and tidy.
You are expected to clear your dishes after meals.
You are not required to complete household chores, but offering to help is appreciated.
Shared spaces (e.g. bathroom) must be kept clean after use.

Laundry

You are responsible for your own laundry.
You must arrange usage times with your host family.
You are required to wash your bed sheets once per week.

Internet and Utilities(Required)

Internet is provided but may have usage limits.
You must follow any usage guidelines set by the household.
You must use power responsibly:
Turn off lights, heaters, and appliances when not in use.
Do not leave heaters on overnight or when leaving the house.

General Rules(Required)

You must respect the household and follow all house rules.
You must speak English at all times in the home.
Visitors are only allowed with host family permission.
Alcohol is only allowed with host family approval.
No illegal drugs.
No smoking.
You must not return home intoxicated.
You must be quiet when arriving home late.
You must inform your host family of your expected return time.

Security and damage(Required)

You are responsible for any damage or breakages.
You must secure the home (lock doors and windows) if you are the last to leave.
You may be liable for losses if the home is not properly secured.

Homestay Policies(Required)

A minimum stay of 2 weeks applies.
You are required to give 2 weeks’ notice if you wish to leave your homestay.
Failure to provide notice will result in 2 weeks’ homestay fees being charged.
Extensions require notice and are subject to availability.
All homestay payments are made to Internex.
You must inform Internex of any issues during your homestay and allow Internex to communicate directly with your host family to address and resolve these concerns.
If you leave a homestay without first notifying Internex and allowing reasonable time for resolution, this may result in loss of any refund entitlement.

Liabilities(Required)

You must hold valid travel and medical insurance for the duration of your stay.
Internex and the host family are not liable for any medical expenses, injury, loss, or damage incurred during your stay.
Any damages to the property must be paid for by the guest.
Internex reserves the right to remove a participant from homestay without refund if any of the terms are breached.

Student Residence

Student Residence is a shared, independent living environment with modern facilities and international residents. It is best for those who prefer independence, socialising with peers, modern facilities, downtown living, and who can commit to at least 4 weeks.

Minimum stay: 4 weeks
Full payment required prior to check-in
Utilities (power, water, Wi-Fi) are included

Lost keys/cards may incur replacement fees

Shared kitchens, bathrooms, and common areas must be kept clean
You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself
Respect other residents at all times

Behaviour(Required)

No illegal drugs permitted
Excessive noise or disruptive behaviour is not allowed
Guests must follow building rules and security requirements
Management may remove residents for misconduct without refund

Overnight guests may not be permitted unless approved

Property Damage(Required)

You are responsible for any damage to your room or shared areas
Credit card details may be used to cover damages or incidental costs

Laundry facilities require payment (payWave)
Shared areas must be used respectfully
BBQ, outdoor, and common areas must be cleaned after use

Cancellations and Changes(Required)

Booking fee is non-refundable
Within 4 weeks of arrival: first 2 weeks non-refundable
Within 2 weeks: first 4 weeks non-refundable
Changes to booking = treated as cancellation
After check-in:
First 4 weeks non-refundable
4 weeks’ notice required to move out early
